As 2018 draws to a close and 2019 begins: tips to live life fully
According to mindfulness expert, researcher, author, speaker, and voice of all things Headspace, Andy Puddicombe, there are ways to stress less in 2019. Instead of trying to add more into our lives, begin by doing less. www.headspace.com
Stress less by being mindful. Be present in our lives. Are we really watching the television or is it just on? Are we thinking of 4 different things at the same time or are we fully present in our activity or people we are with? Can we really be listening to others and scrolling through our phones? Be in the moment. Shut out the extra noise when possible.
Judge Less. The first step is self-awareness. When you know you are being critical of others, the situation or yourself, note it, and then let it go. Being critical is only hurting us and our health and wellbeing.
Binge Less. Know why you are eating. Be mindful of how hungry you are by rating it on a scale from 1, not hungry to 5 very hungry. Also be aware of the food choices. Do you even like the food you are eating? Is it the best choice for you? Be mindful and intentional of what you are eating.
Scroll Less. Scroll less through social media and emails. Schedule certain times each day to scroll through social media. Be intentional which helps with being mindful and living in the present moment. The beginning of the new year can be a great time to reset phone. Clear it from unused apps and notifications. Turn off audible notifications. Those with you will be thankful as not to hear your notifications going off.
Fight Less. At the beginning of the year, write down resentments, critical thoughts, old disappointments, wad up in a ball, throw away and move on. When angry the first step is to breathe!
During a time of more, more and more, less may be better. Gaining more by doing less in 2019.
Which one will you start with?
Which one will you commit to in 2019?
Wishing you a great start to 2019.
